Custom Fast Corneal Cross-linking System

CF-X LINKER® system is a highly flexible solution for CXL, allowing the operator to select between different protocols:

  • EPI-OFF (Dresden Protocol)
  • EPI-ON (Iontophoresis; MEGARIDE*)
  • CXL for keratitis treatment
  • Post refractive surgery CXL (PRK; LASIK)

CF-X Linker is a corneal cross-linking system, suited for both trans-epithelial and Dresden protocols.
CF-X Linker can be used as a UV emitter in the following protocols:

  • Dresden Protocol (EPI-OFF)
  • Iontophoresis (EPI-ON)
  • New customized fast low intensity EPI-ON CXL protocol (Megaride)
  • CXL for keratitis treatment
  • Post-refractive surgery CXL treatment (PRK, LASIK)

CF-X Linker must be conserved at a temperature between -10°C e +60°C, with a relative humidity between 10% and 90% and away from dust.

CROSS-LINKING

Corneal Cross-linking (CXL) is a parasurgical technique, born in Dresden in 1998. It’s based on a photodynamic polimerization process of the corneal stroma, which enhances its toughness by multiplying the collagen fibers, thus halting keratoconus.

During the years CXL evolved both in products and techniques: in this context SERVImed researchs and innovates products and devices, led by a technical staff and cooperating with academic, clinical and pharmaceutical figures.

MEGARIDE protocol consists of:

  • SOAKING
    This phase requires Ribocross TE, patented ophthalmic solution that can provide a safe and effective penetration and CXL, even in EPI-ON [“Increasing of corneal permeation of riboflavin-5-phosphate through enhancers: A promising approach in corneal trans-epithelial cross-linking treatment”. Inter J Pharm 440 (2013) 148– 153. j pharm].
    Soak with a drop every 15 seconds, for a total duration of 10 minutes.
  • FASE DI IRRADIAZIONE
    After inserting corneal thickness value, the integrated CF-X LINKER® software will automatically regulate irradiation intensity and duration. During this phase it is not necessary to create the riboflavin protective film, unlike other protocols.
MEGARIDE protocol total duration is about 20-25 minutes.
